Denza, the premium sub-brand of BYD, revealed the production Denza Z at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Thursday, July 9, 2026. The tri-motor all-electric sports car marks the first BYD Group model developed on the new e³ platform and arrives in three trims — Coupe, Spider and Racing — with combined output of 1,582 hp (1,604 PS / 1,180 kW). UK pre-sale pricing has been confirmed, with customer deliveries scheduled for the end of 2026.
The Goodwood reveal is Denza's first major European product launch. It follows the brand's April debut at Auto China 2026 in Beijing and forms part of a broader BYD Group presence at the Festival that also includes the Yangwang U9 Xtreme, Denza Z9 GT and Denza B5.
Three versions: Coupe, Spider and Racing
All three Denza Z trims share the same tri-motor powertrain, chassis architecture and 76 kWh BYD Blade Battery 2.0 pack. Differentiation is driven by roof configuration, aero package and tire specification.
| Version | Body | 0–62 mph | Top speed | WLTP range | UK price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Denza Z Coupe | Fixed hardtop | 2.25 s | 300 km/h (186 mph) | 410 km (254 mi) | £142,900 |
| Denza Z Spider | Soft-top convertible | 2.30 s | 300 km/h (186 mph) | 400 km (248 mi) | £159,900 |
| Denza Z Racing | Track-focused with fixed rear wing | 1.96 s (semi-slicks) | 350 km/h (217 mph) | 380 km (236 mi) | £172,900 |
The Racing variant runs an aggressive aero package with a large fixed rear wing that extends the top speed to 350 km/h and shortens the 0–62 mph time to 1.96 seconds when equipped with the optional semi-slick tires. The Spider adds a folding soft top at a £17,000 premium over the Coupe.
Powertrain: 1,582 hp from three motors
Denza Z uses a single 500 kW / 670 hp motor on the front axle (BYD internal code TZ220QYD) and a pair of 680 kW combined / 912 hp motors at the rear (TZ226XYG). Peak system output is 1,180 kW (1,582 hp / 1,604 PS), delivered through the brand's fully integrated by-wire chassis.
Battery, charging and platform
All three Denza Z variants carry a 76 kWh BYD Blade Battery 2.0 pack built on an 800-volt architecture. BYD's Flash Charging system delivers 10–70% state of charge in as little as five minutes, subject to compatible DC infrastructure. WLTP range spans from 380 km on the Racing to 410 km on the Coupe. The e³ platform is designed specifically for high-performance electric applications and forms the technical foundation for future Denza performance models.
Chassis technology and driver aids
Denza Z is equipped with the brand's DiSus-M magnetorheological suspension, steer-by-wire electric steering and DiPilot 5.0 driver-assistance stack. The by-wire chassis architecture removes the mechanical steering column and enables a fold-away yoke steering wheel in the cabin.
Dimensions and weight
The Denza Z measures 4,780 mm long, 1,990 mm wide and 1,350 mm tall on a 2,780 mm wheelbase — roughly the footprint of a Porsche 911 with wider tracks. Curb weight is quoted between 2,220 and 2,290 kg depending on trim, reflecting the tri-motor drivetrain and 800V pack.
Denza Z UK prices and release date
Denza confirmed the following UK pre-sale pricing at Goodwood:
- Denza Z Coupe: £142,900 (~$192,000)
- Denza Z Spider: £159,900 (~$215,000)
- Denza Z Racing: £172,900 (~$232,000)
Order books open in late summer 2026 as the first Denza retail stores open in the UK. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin by the end of 2026. A wider European rollout is planned for 2027.
Denza Z vs Porsche 911 Turbo S
At its UK Coupe pricing of £142,900, the Denza Z sits directly against the Porsche 911 Turbo S (from £185,000 in the UK), but with significantly higher headline output: 1,582 hp against 641 hp. The Turbo S retains a lower curb weight (~1,640 kg vs 2,220 kg), while the Denza Z offers a 5-minute Flash Charging window that no combustion 911 can match. On a straight 0–62 mph figure the Racing trim (1.96 s) undercuts the 911 Turbo S (2.5 s) by a full half-second.
What comes next
Denza has stated that the Z is the first of several performance models to launch on the e³ platform. Beyond the UK, the brand plans full European retail expansion in 2027, with additional markets in Germany, France and Italy to follow the UK rollout.
