Aston Martin Vanquish 2025

British Grand Tourer

The Vanquish name returned in 2024 at the top of Aston Martin's range, and this 2025 car is the first to carry the company's reworked 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12. Output is quoted at 824 hp with 1,000 Nm of torque, all of it going to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic and an electronically controlled differential. Aston Martin has said the car will be built in strictly limited numbers, on the order of a thousand a year, which keeps it clearly above the DB12 in both price and intent.

Underneath is the firm's bonded aluminium structure, stretched to give the Vanquish a longer wheelbase than the DB12, with carbon-fibre body panels and carbon-ceramic brakes fitted as standard. The engine sits ahead of the driver but behind the front axle line, which is why the bonnet is so long and the cabin so far back. It is a deliberately old-fashioned layout for a car launched in the middle of the decade: front engine, rear drive, twelve cylinders and no electric assistance anywhere in the driveline.

Where the 2025 Vanquish Sits in the V12 Lineage

Vanquish has been used twice before, on the 2001 V12 Vanquish that put the engine into a stiff aluminium and carbon structure, and on the second-generation car of 2012. Both were flagships, both were front-engined, and both leaned on the association that runs from the DB5 in Goldfinger through the DBS of the Casino Royale era, which is also parked in this collection. What separates the 2025 car is context: Aston Martin is now one of very few manufacturers still developing a twelve-cylinder engine at all, a programme our news desk follows through cars such as the Aston Martin Valen.

In the Batman Garage the Vanquish is the newest British car in the garage and the obvious counterpoint to the Bentley Continental GTC, which answers the same grand touring question with twelve cylinders in a W formation and a folding fabric roof. Flagship machinery from earlier decades is collected in the Legends section.
