The Peugeot RCZ is back — as a concept. Revealed on 11 October 2026 ahead of the Paris Motor Show, the RCZ Vision turns the 2009–2015 coupé into a 500 hp electric four-seater with a solid-state battery, a 1,000-volt system that charges from 10 to 80 per cent in 10 minutes, up to 600 km of range and the famous double-bubble roof — now in glass (Peugeot).
PEUGEOT RCZ VISION AT A GLANCE
Concept, production not confirmed · 500 hp electric · Factorial solid-state battery, 110 mm thick · 1,000 V, 10–80% in 10 min · up to 600 km · 4,650 mm long, four seats · STLA One platform
Is There a New Peugeot RCZ?
Yes and no. The RCZ Vision is a concept, and Peugeot has not confirmed a production version (Auto Express, Motor1). Peugeot calls it a brand manifesto: a preview of the design and technology coming to its next generation of cars. “With Peugeot RCZ Vision, we are setting out our vision with a car firmly focused on the future,” said Peugeot CEO Alain Favey, adding that the concept has “emotion at its heart” (Peugeot, evo).
The original RCZ was built from 2009 to 2015 by Magna Steyr in Austria and went up against the Audi TT. Its most powerful version, the RCZ R, had 270 hp from a 1.6-litre turbo engine. It ended without a successor, and today it is something of a collector’s car (Motor1, CompleteCar.ie).

Peugeot has not said how many motors the RCZ Vision has or which wheels they drive (Motor1, evo). The solid-state battery was developed with Factorial Energy. At just 110 mm thick, it lets the car sit as low as the original even though it is larger. Solid-state cells have not yet appeared in a production Stellantis car (Peugeot, Auto Express).
Design: Feline Future and a Glass Double-Bubble Roof
The RCZ Vision introduces Peugeot’s new design language, Feline Future, built on five principles: freedom, courage, elegance, inner force and instinct. “With RCZ Vision, we are giving our design language, Feline Future, a new expression,” said Peugeot design director Matthias Hossann (Peugeot).
The most recognisable RCZ detail returns: the double-bubble roof, inspired by Zagato. On the original it was metal; here it is glass and runs from the bonnet all the way to the tail. At the front and rear, Peugeot’s three-claw light signature is now three ultra-slim horizontal lines, and the front bumper has a micro-perforated RCZ graphic. An active rear spoiler stays hidden when the car is parked. The forged wheels — 21 inches at the front, 22 at the rear — have triangular details that recall the original RCZ alloys (Peugeot, Auto Express, Motor1).
Interior: Hypersquare and Steer-by-Wire
Instead of a round steering wheel, the RCZ Vision has the Hypersquare — a rectangular controller with four control rings. It is the production version that will appear in the next-generation Peugeot E-208. It works with steer-by-wire: there is no mechanical link to the front wheels, and less than one turn takes you from lock to lock, compared with about three on a normal car. The RCZ Vision is also the first Peugeot with brake-by-wire, and it offers Level 2++ hands-free driving (Peugeot).
Above the Hypersquare sits a new take on the i-Cockpit with transparent Micro LED displays; the central screen can be switched off completely. The asymmetric front seats have open backrests to save weight, and unlike the original RCZ, the rear seats take two adults and fold flat for more luggage space. Materials include Alcantara and PELINOVA leather made from recycled leather-goods offcuts, and the dashboard clock was designed with French watchmaker SERICA (Peugeot, evo).
Will Peugeot Build the RCZ Vision?
For now there is no answer. Peugeot says the concept shows the direction of the brand, and its design and technology will reach production cars: the Hypersquare and the new i-Cockpit arrive in the next E-208, and the STLA One platform, steer-by-wire and the hands-free driving system will be shared across Stellantis (Carscoops, Auto Express). A real RCZ Mk2 is less certain, because the market for 2+2 coupés is small (CompleteCar.ie).
| Concept | Brand | Powertrain | Paris 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| RCZ Vision | Peugeot | Electric, 500 hp | Yes |
| Cuorerosso | Alfa Romeo | 2.9 V6 full-hybrid, Q4 | Yes |
| JAS Tensei | JAS Motorsport | 3.5 V6, manual | Yes |
Batman Garage Verdict
The original RCZ was one of the prettiest affordable coupés of its time, and the RCZ Vision keeps its best idea — the double-bubble roof — while adding 500 hp and 10-minute charging. If Peugeot builds even a toned-down version, the Audi TT gap in the market finally has a French answer.
